Description VACANCY: Design Engineer (Permanent) £neg.
AVAILABILITY: Immediate
LOCATION: Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
JOB DESCRIPTION: The role involves working on new/ existing ranges of powered surgical instruments. The successful candidate will be responsible for seeing the project through from initial design concept to product launch. The job will involve the following tasks; initial generation of ideas, 3D CAD modelling, drafting of components, prototype assembly, prototype testing, design validation, project documentation in line with current medical standards and final product launch. The job involves working within a small expanding design team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideally A-Level Maths and Physics Preferably degree educated (minimum 2:1) in any of the following areas; Mechanical engineering, Product design, Medical engineering, (Ideally MEng, BEng, BSc or MSc)
EXPERIENCE:
Relevant related experience not essential, but the ideal candidate must have worked in a similar engineering role, so is fully aware of the expectations of a design engineer. Any experience of designing/ working on precision engineering projects desirable Any experience of designing/ working on medical devices desirable, in particular powered surgical instruments. Any experience of medical standards desirable. Any experience of brushless motors and control desirable. Any experience of volume medical manufacturing processes such as injection moulding desirable.
SKILLS: Ideally experience in using Solidworks CAD software. Any experience of other 3D CAD packages desirable.
