General Job Purpose:
To manage a technical function within AT Engineering
Main Responsibilities:
• To lead a professional, motivated and high performance engineering team including design, development and project engineers
• To ensure technical, quality, timing and budget objectives are met or exceeded for all projects within the technical function
• To maintain close communication and co-operation with other engineering function, business development and operational functions
Key Result Areas:
Technical
• Set and maintain the highest possible standards of technical competence and quality within the department
• Supervision and coaching of technical staff at all levels, including advice of staff within other technical departments
• To ensure effective and accurate planning of projects and technical tasks
• Maintain the company knowledge base on state of the art and future technologies relevant to the technical function, in line with the overall technical strategy
• To advise Head of Engineering to ensure full exploitation of relevant IPR, in line with overall strategy
Operational
• To build a strong and respected team, in line with Prodrive’s culture, covering all aspects of technical project delivery and ensuring all individuals are properly developed, trained and rewarded
• Proactive support of business development activities including client development and representation of Prodrive at client presentations, conferences and business development functions
• Lead the future development of the function in terms of training, facilities, software requirements and budget preparation
• To provide regular updates on project and department status
• To ensure application of Prodrive project management and quality processes in line with guidance from Head of project Management
• To develop and maintain close, effective working relationships with technical managers within the Prodrive Motorsport Division
Person Specification
• Relevant degree level qualification or above
• Relevant experience in a senior engineering role with proven experience of team leadership
• Experience of project management with a proven record of delivery
• Experience of client liaison and business development
• Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal
