Description PROCUREMENT MANAGER
LUTON £45K neg. + Benefits
OVERVIEW
To plan and control the material supply chain from established procurement contracts through the manufacturing process to despatch of finished goods to customers. Optimise working capital and material availability to maintain delivery schedules and customer satisfaction. Key interface e internally between procurement, manufacturing, engineering and projects; and externally between suppliers and freight forwarders Develop and implement a procurement strategy that proves a high quality, reduced cost supply chain of materials and services that supports margin improvement, reduces inventory holding and reduces the cumulative lead-time of product supply to customers. Raise the level of professionalism within the procurement function and develop the competence of the existing team of buyers. Key interface internally between materials management, manufacturing, engineering, projects and sales; and externally between suppliers of materials and services.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Materials)
Managed and maintain Master Production Schedule Prepare capacity planning models Daily processing of MRP recommendations for manufacturing Release and kitting of manufacturing orders Restructure stores and despatch methodologies and physical layout Improve inventory accuracy and introduce PI management Optimise working capital and reduce inventory holding Identify, recommend and implement initiatives that reduce operational costs Take leading role in implementation of new ERP system within materials function. Cultivate an enthusiastic, conscientious and team spirited working environment.
MAIN DUTIES (Procurement)
Rationalise of supplier base Establish and develop strategic supply contracts. Reduce cost of acquistion and ownership for direct materials and services Implement and manage a vendor appraisal and rating system In conjunction with materials management, establish merchandising contracts for line stocks. Review and adjust safety stock levels of critical components and materials. Daily processing of MRP recommendations into optimum quantities for purchased items. Take the leading role in implementation of new ERP system within the procurement function. Liase with engineering and manufacturing to determine make/buy decisions. Identify, recommend and implement initiatives that reduce operation costs. Develop the competence of the existing team of buyers. Cultivate an enthusiast, conscientious and team working environment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
IT literate with a well developed knowledge of MPS/MRP, Excel and Access Established planning, scheduling and resource utilisation methodologies Working knowledge and implementation of 5S and Lean techniques Developed and streamline inventory management operations Ability to analyse numerical and financial data and prepare report Team player with good interpersonal skills
Negotiation of cost reduced and effective supply contracts Working knowledge of contract law and terms and conditions of trade and supply Developed and streamlined procurement operations Ability to analyse numerical and financial data and prepare reports Team player with good interpersonal skills
CREDITIALS and EXPERIENCE
Proven track record in materials management, preferably inn electronics or electro/mechanical.
