Description
Principle Systems Engineer
Naval Radio Communications
Salary c £35K - £55K
Crawley, West Sussex
To be responsible for systems deign and implementation activities, from requirements analysis through to acceptance of ground and shipbourne radio systems.
The successful Systems Engineer should be capable of:
§ Technical leadership and small work package management on single programmes
§ Directing design and prototype build activities through the drawing office an d technician departments on programmes that may have equipment content in excess of £1M
§ Be responsible for technical implementation and supporting customer handover
Key tasks would include:
§ Producing designs to meet customer requirements
§ Produce documentation to support design activities, and conforming to ISO9001 and CMMI standards
§ Contribute to the technical content of proposals in order to win new business
§ Produce specifications and design documentation for new systems
§ Audit and review the quality and accuracy of the technical design content
Candidates should have proven experience of working on small to medium sized programmes, be able to analyse and resolve problems, manage the work schedule, accurately estimate work timescales, possess a good understanding of relevant engineering tools and have a good understanding of the full development life-cycle process.
You should have expertise in one or more of the following:
§ Latest communication technologies
§ ALE and ARQ techniques
§ Communication Systems Architecture
§ Ethernet transmissions and networks
§ TDM Transmission
§ Network Synchronisation
§ Internet protocols
§ Encryption and authentication
§ Data Transmission and conversion
