Senior Buyer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional, to join a progressive and expanding company in the role of Buyer / Senior Buyer.
JOB TITLE: Senior Buyer
BASIC: To £35K dependant on experience
LOCATION: Hampshire, South
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining cost competitive, reliable and quality assured sources of supply, and to co-ordinate supplier’s contributions to continuous improvement activities. Specific responsibilities will include,
• To ensure the smooth supply of electro-mechanical components / raw materials, to the production process, whilst maintaining inventory levels,
• Improve efficiency and cost effectiveness,
• Controlling and conducting assessments of potential new suppliers, and to direct and select suppliers and ensure placements of orders in accordance with procedures and schedules
• Direct and control price negotiation with suppliers to ensure material cost targets are met
• Control and conduct supplier development and cost reduction activities to ensure that suppliers achieve agreed improvement targets
• Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance and direct actions to ensure the resolution of concerns and the achievement of agreed improvement targets.
THE COMPANY
Our client is a market leading supplier and manufacturer of specialist electro-mechanical equipment in to a number of industry sectors, poised for further growth and expansion.
KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The successful individual will;
• Possess previous experience of Purchasing within a manufacturing / defence / fast moving production environment
• Candidates should ideally be CIPS qualified as a minimum
• Hold significant experience in managing supplier performance
• Have a good knowledge of MRP / ERP systems
• Possess excellent negotiation and team working skills.
This position is commutable from Winchester, Basingstoke, Andover, Newbury, Salisbury, Marlborough, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire areas.
