Description Programme Manager / Bid Manager – Sonar / Naval / Underwater Systems A European high-technology group renowned worldwide for its expertise in electronics-based defence systems and services, particularly for Naval forces. The Group is a leading systems prime contractor and integrator with industrial operations in ten countries and clients in 50. Primary Purpose of the Role – The Programme Manager will carry out bid and project management for Sonar Systems. Plan and execute all Mine Hunting Support Group major bids. The Project Manager will be working closely with engineering support and Naval Services. Bids and future business will require close co-operation with Business development and international sales. Key Tasks include - Dimensions Project management of Naval Services Sonar project/work packages. Bid management . Assist in strategic planning for future support contracts. Planning of all activities and tasks using Primavera. Bid and Forward Load planning for future programmes. Decision Making Process The position requires clear and analytical thinking, reliability, common sense, patience, and enthusiasm. A hands on approach is a must. Flexibility and adaptability are essential. The decision making process is based on sound project management skills and planning knowledge. Some specific equipment knowledge will also be required. Key responsibilities for timely completion of tasks within budget will require effective management and interpersonal skills. The Programme Manager will e involved in complex departmental interfaces, technical problems, competition for resources at critical stages in programmes. Supervision of People - there are currently 2 direct subordinates but supervision of supporting personnel from other departments will be required. Technical & Professional skills - Experienced Programme Manager with a proven track record in production / development contracts. Knowledge of business development in a support, ILS/CLS experience would be useful. Use of Primavera, BCPM and Oracle. Basic technical knowledge of Minehunting Sonar’s.
