Description JOB TITLE: Senior Electrical Engineer RESPONSIBLE TO: Contracts Manager SUB-ORDINATES: Electrical Engineers OBJECTIVES: To ensure in so far as is reasonably practical that the Company’s electrical business, installations and services are technically correct to all the relevant standards and manage the Electrical Department. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) To oversee and prepare necessary electrical specifications, materials lists, wiring diagrams and data sheets to the regulations and standards appropriate to the site conditions, location and equipment. 2) To assist and guide electrical engineers and checking of work. 3) Act as Duty Holder for the NIC-EIC certificate; carry out all duties concerned with the NIC-EIC including maintaining correct technical standards, checking and signing certificates, managing any Qualifying Supervisors. 4) Provide technical assistance in the preparation of procedures, quotations, tenders and installation work involving electrical equipment. 5) Ensure drawings of electrical installations and equipment are prepared and updated as necessary, to the most economic design and the appropriate standards. Drawings to be produced using the CAD system. 6) Evaluate electrical equipment failures and recommend procedural or product changes to prevent further occurrence. 7) Ensure the Department has an accurate and up to date library of electrical equipment, catalogues and specifications appropriate to its existing or potential range of products or services. 8) Liaise with customers and carry out visit sites to discuss and agree specifications and performance requirements. Visits to site may entail fault diagnosis, recommending and implementing corrective measures. 9) Produce written reports appropriate to site visits or equipment failures as required. 10) Ensure the job files are maintained in such a manner that they give an accurate status of the job. Organize work load within the Electrical Engineers area ensuring work is completed on time with respect to due dates for enquiries and orders using PC based databases including SAP. 11) Ensure that the requirements of the Quality management system are fully understood and complied with. 12) Assist in the produce electrical quotations as and when the need arises. 13) Assist Project Manager and any other Abacus Departments with Electrotechnical requirements. 14) In conjunction with all other Staff assist in marketing of the Department to develop new business. 15) Deputize for other members of the Contracts Department when necessary. 16) Carry out any other duties within your capabilities allocated to you by the Directors or Contracts Manager.
MEETINGS: Weekly Progress/Programme Meetings when required Pre-tender meetings when required Handover meetings when required Electrical Department Improvement Meetings. Lighting Shop Improvement Meetings when required. Product Development Meetings
1 Show progress towards obtaining full NIC-EIC certifications through consultation with the NIC-EIC inspector, staff training and installation work.
2 Ensure all company electrical procedures and configs are completed with the help of the Electrical Design Engineer and Project Engineer.
3 Be able to demonstrate that the ELE BOMs are being produced to program.
