Description
Specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of electronic/electrical products and sub systems. The business is entering into an exciting phase with record order intake, new innovation, product development and they are now looking to recruit a Principal and Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as the Electrical Design Engineer you will join their dedicated project team that is challenged with the task of delivering robust and cost effective power systems and installations, for the defence power section of the engineering department.
The Role
In this role you will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of a project from bid to delivery. Working closely with other team members and sub contractors, you will plan and carry out your activities to develop technical solutions, which successfully meet with the overall objectives of your project.
This could involve working with:
• Power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETS, Thyristors)
• ac variable speed drives
• Propulsion
• Motor control
• Inverters
• dc-dc converters
• Control systems
• Power filters
• Electromagnetic capability (EMC)
The Candidate
To succeed as the Electrical Design Engineer you must have the following:
• Previous experience of electrical design, ideally designing power systems
• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
• Competency in computer based engineering tools
• A motivated self-starter, capable of leading small engineering teams.
• Proven track record of leading and motivating others within a team-based, multi-skilled environment.
• Ability to apply best practice engineering and development techniques.
Additionally, you will need to be a motivated self starter who is capable of acting as a technical lead on engineering projects. You should also have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
