Senior Test Automation Engineer
Abingdon
Up to £40,000 DOE Plus Bonus and Benefits
Trusted by 100 million users and endorsed by industry analysts, our client is a world leader in IT security and control solutions purpose-built for business, education, government organisations and service providers. They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Test Automation Engineer.
In this role you will be responsible for improving the quality and reliability of the company’s products by designing, developing and maintaining test automation systems, tools, and scripts. You will also support the Test and Development teams to use the products.
Working with the development, test and product management teams, as the Senior Test Automation Engineer you will be responsible for gaining an understanding of current projects in order to estimate and plan the automation approach and effort during the initial project phases.
You will then be responsible for:
- Reviewing project information to understand the system workflow and document an appropriate automation strategy
- Determining specific automation scenarios using your project knowledge
- Assigning appropriate work to Test Automation Engineers
- Tracking the deliverables of Test Automation Engineers (using Microsoft Project)
- Writing functions/tools/scripts
- Co-ordinating peer reviews of automation code and unit tests
- Running manual and automated test cases
Additionally, this role will involve working with your peers in the cross-functional team to improve the ease of Test Automation, and you will also play a key role in driving the global Test Automation Forums to promote learning, understanding and use of best practices.
To succeed as the Senior Test Automation Engineer you must have experience in the following:
- Writing test automation tools/functions for commercial applications using a programming language (VB.NET or C#)
- Testing your own code using unit and integration testing methodologies
- Identifying and implementing process improvements for test automation efficiency
- Estimation, planning and tracking techniques
- Defining and using Configuration Management processes
You must also have a good working knowledge of common scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Tcl, or MS DOS Batch. Additionally you will need knowledge of common operating systems and basic PC Networking.
Training on Microsoft Project will be provided if you are not familiar with the application.
