Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. This role is within the Global Engine Development (GED).
The Role:
This is a vital role that is often sensitive by nature as a large percentage of activity occurs in front of the engine customer or machine end user
You will need to display a measured approach to your work, maintaining a positive attitude and exercising tact and diplomacy
A leader of a multi-skilled team operating within a world-class facility, you will be responsible for managing the work of a team of field technicians predominantly covering Western Europe but some activity may extend to the US and the Far East
The team’s responsibilities will be to provide field data from new engine product installed in prototype machines
You will assist the complex validation of both current and future products and components
Working closely with GED/Engineering/Product Support to ensure timely delivery of NPI programme deliverables whilst maintaining standards in quality and safety
Proactive: Lead the EU based field follow team Plan and manage the capture of data from machines in the field Organise training and engine product familiarisation for the wider team Build and drive the relationship with Machine Development Europe Maintain excellent communication with UK/USA staff Drive for perpetual excellence when communicating with customers Maintain 30-50% travel commitment Apply a positive and diplomatic approach when in front of the customer
Reactive: Manage engine repair and rework duty in response to management direction/customer request Where necessary perform engine rework/diagnosis activities Manage the relationship between GED field follow and NPI quality teams Interrogate electronic engine management software data using Canape/Cadetwin and ET Contribute directly to maintenance of NPI issues Lead root cause investigation using DMAIC/8D methodology Help identify interim corrective action and implement Assist the communication effort back to machine groups where requested
Requirements:
Ability to manage your workload effectively and that of direct reports
Requires a high degree of engine or machine build experience
Previous leadership experience preferred
Able to demonstrate a good understanding of base engine fundamentals
Self motivated and able to work on own initiative and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Committed to continuous improvement, with an understanding of 6 Sigma
PC literate, familiarity with MS Office. ET/CANape/MFGPro experience advantageous
Strong team player with good interpersonal skills
Ability to update and maintain records as required
