Description Electronics Design Engineer – Electronics Defence Systems/ Sonar Systems Our client is a European high-technology group renowned worldwide for its expertise in electronics-based defence systems and services, particularly for Naval forces. The Group is a leading systems prime contractor and integrator with industrial operations in ten countries and clients in 50. Primary Purpose of the Role -The Acquisition Systems and Receivers Group (ASR) is responsible for the design, development and manufacture of the computer systems that make up the sonar inboard electronics. These systems increasingly exploit COTS based technologies. The role of the Electronic Design Engineer is to develop and maintain these new and existing product lines. Key Tasks –The Electronics Design Engineers permanent objectives are: to work as part of an integrated product design and development team. Deliver competitive products to programmes over the complete lifecycle covering: requirements analysis - design – development – qualification – manufacturing -integration – verification – validation - delivery – support. Participate in bids, programmes and technical proposals to include estimating, organising and planning of work activities. Ensure all activities are consistent with the company processes and standards. Participate in the groups activities for continuous improvement. Technical & Professional skills - Experience in product design and development •2+ years experience in Digital and Analogue circuit design. Experience of Analogue–Digital Converters (ADC). Experience of P-Spice Modelling (desirable). VHDL experience developed on a Xilinx platform. Appreciation of the Hardware Development Lifecycle encapsulating Requirements Analysis (preferably using the DOORS), HW design, decomposition schematic capture, integration, verification and validation. Configuration management of hardware products in accordance with company processes. Working knowledge of ‘C’. Experience of networking devices and protocols, Ethernet, IP, TCP, SNMP. (desirable). Collaborate on improvements to company process, work instructions, tools and methodologies. Salary £28K-£31K – Location – Stockport, Cheshire, North East.
