Description Hardware Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer – Aerospace. Experience and qualifications required for this role - First hand hardware design skills. This should include experience of the complete design life cycle from interpretation of a requirements specification through design, development, debugging and documentation to design proving and certification. Experience of designing microprocessor circuitry. Experience of designing analogue circuitry (eg amplifiers, filters and signal sampling). Experience of logic design (including use of logic arrays eg VHDL or DSP) and schematic capture techniques. Knowledge of hardware qualification practices and procedures. Experience of keeping documentation under formal configuration control. Experience of preparing board and unit level test specification. Familiarity with 68000 series microprocessor architecture and applications. Familiarity with TI TMS320 series DSP architecture and applications. Familiarity with VHDL and programmable logic development tools such as ModelSim and Leonardo Spectrum. Awareness and appreciation of RTCA/DO-254. Awareness and appreciation of RTCA/DO-160 or equivalent. Knowledge of software language such as C/C++ or use of mnemonic language (e.g. processor specific). Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role - The design, modification, commissioning, verification and proving of electronic circuits – digital and analogue. The preparation of documentation to enable the certification/approval of products in accordance with programme-specific requirements. Key duties: - To design, commission and verify analogue and digital circuits in accordance with defined requirements specifications. To undertake hardware qualification activities or through sub-contractors, to ensure implementation of appropriate qualification activities. To ensure designs are documented to the relevant project/Company standards. To specify, design, commission and verify special to type test equipment. To take responsibility for completing hardware engineering activities to cost and schedule. To liaise with other departments and functional groups as necessary.
