Description Our Client is a leading development partner of the automobile and engine industry with a proven and unique system competence in the area of combustion engines and engine peripherals. They are among the top 3 system suppliers for Piston Systems, Cylinder Components, Valve Train Systems, Air Management Systems and Liquid Management Systems.
The Role:
To coordinate all company and supplier activities required to achieve project targets and deliverables for Projects up to and including the Medium sized Projects running within the engineering division. This includes timing, budgetary, technical and customer related tasks and responsibilities
To provide the customer with a professional and technically good interface to the company and to maximise profits for the company
Define and negotiate project work scope, deliverables and global project timing, including milestones and gateways, with the customer
Liaise with company functions to define project activities to achieve global project timing, including milestones and gateways
Provide understanding of customer processes that will be followed during the program, and plan project activities to suit
Agree project team members with function heads
Implement latest Project Management processes and tools
Define responsibilities and objectives of section leaders within the project team. Measure and feedback performance against these objectives
Agree responsibilities and objectives of other team members (with section leaders where applicable)
Monitor the implementation of latest functional processes and procedures throughout the project
Co-ordinate activities between sections to achieve project deliverables and milestones to the agreed plan
Plan and reforecast as necessary, resource from functions to achieve project deliverables, milestones, earned value & margin
Accept bookings to project plans
Ensure customer requirements are met, if necessary where work scope change is not within agreed scope, raise PCR to secure additional funding from customer
Agree changes in project work scope with customer and Chief Engineer, Projects
Organise and facilitate Project Meetings and Concerns Meetings as latest PM processes
Participate in internal project review meetings as requested
Co-ordinate and attend customer Project Status meetings. Co-ordinate external project status reports
Lead internal Gateway reviews
Lead project close out meetings and reviews
Develop and inform relevant Sales Team on new and continuation business opportunities with the customer
Requirements:
A relevant Engineering Degree i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Automotive
A high technical level in one of the major Automotive Engineering disciplines: Design, Development, Calibration and a good understanding of the remaining disciplines
At least 8 years experience in the field of engine technology Aeronautical, Marine, Off Road, Two wheel of which a minimum of 4 years in the Automotive Industry
A proven track record of managing an automotive engineering project through to completion
Managing and leading teams of greater than 5 engineers
A detailed understanding of typical Automotive program Work Breakdown Structures, Task dependencies, Timing and Budgets
Knowledge of Quality Engineering processes and procedures: APQP, Product Specification, System Specification, FMEA, Design Verification Planning, Concerns System
