SONAR Systems Engineer
Stockport, North West
Salary c £23K - £28K + Benefits package
Our clients are experts in the development of electronics-based defence systems and services, particularly for Naval forces.
Currently require a Sonar Systems Engineer who work as a part of a multi-disciplinary project technical team. The current project is currently in service but it is also undergoing evolutionary upgrades. Current project activities range from support to in service equipment and users, analysis of systems performance, investigation of system observations and specification and development of extensions and changes to system functionality. There is a diverse range of technical activities – with variable workloads including periods of work under intense pressure including onboard ships with operational sonar.
Primary purpose of the Sonar Systems role:
• Analysis of active and passive sonar performance
• Identification and investigation of problems
• Testing and validation
• Support of hardware and software
• Support of system changes
The successful Sonar Systems Engineer would have knowledge of active and passive sonar processing and design, use of Matlab for data analysis, an aptitude for operation and simple maintenance (start-up, shutdown, initial fault diagnosis etc).
