Description Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer Rugeley, Staffordshire £30,000 - £42,000 DOE Plus Company Bonus, Company Pension Scheme, Employee Development Opportunities, Flexible Working, Support Towards Relocation, Relocation to brand new premises.
Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of electronic/electrical products and sub systems for the Defence industry. The business is entering into an exciting phase, with record order intake, new innovation, product development and they are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as a Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for providing mechanical design expertise in support of new business developments in the area of Defence power systems, power converter and motors. A high degree of customer interaction will be required.
Working with specialists from other engineering disciplines, in this role you will provide mechanical design expertise in support of future business opportunities. This will include feasibility studies, technology developments, concept designs for new products, and bids and proposals.
As the Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer you will also:
- Contribute towards the engineering strategy of the business - Guide and support other mechanical engineers - Design review authority for mainstream projects - Contribute to the development of engineering excellence within the business
To succeed in this position you must have a background in mechanical design engineering with experience in feasibility studies, concept design for new products, and bids and proposals. You must also have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Additionally, as the Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer you must have a working knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, excellent communication and IT skills, and a visionary, enthusiastic and creative approach.
Experience of FEA CFD would be highly desirable, as would experience of designing power conversion equipment - but these aren’t essential.
