To support all aspects of new electrosurgical product design and development and mechanical systems engineering of the existing product range
Duties and Responsibilities 1. Within a project team, lead technical aspects of the development of new and technically innovative electromechanical designs from concept to product release, conducting feasibility studies, calculations, tests and evaluations as necessary. 2. Ensure that new designs conform to recognised ISO technical, safety and quality standards 3. Liaise with internal manufacturing and quality engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable in terms of quality, risk and cost. Anticipate potential technical problems on new products and use structured techniques to ensure that solutions are identified and implemented in a controlled 4. Perform risk reduction activities on an ongoing basis. 5. Generate key technical reports and specifications and cross check/approve detailed component drawings and assembly drawings of other team/project engineers 6. Inform Manager of technical progress and issues. 7. Work within agreed time and cost constraints. 8. Liaise with external design consultants assigned to the project as required. 9. Work in accordance with the requirements of formal company procedures (quality, IT and health and safety) 10. Provide production support as required to ensure the effective ongoing manufacture of products. 11. Conduct cost reduction exercises when required.
Qualifications/Experience Degree in an engineering discipline preferably mechanical or equivalent Preferably 6-8 years previous experience in a design related role. Experience with Medical Devices highly desirable or in a highly regulated environment (aerospace, automotive etc). Experience with machine tools useful. Skilled in design of small scale complex electro-mechanical assemblies
The ideal candidate will have: * A good degree qualification combined with a high level of technical competency (both analytical and practical). Six years plus postgraduate industrial experience culminating in a senior position. * A three-year plus proven track record in the design and development of small precision electro-mechanical assemblies within a quality orientated organisation (ideally medical instruments, but may be automotive or aerospace). * A logical approach to the solution of problems and to the product development process with the capacity for original thinking. Experience in the preparation of technical documents such as risk analysis, FMEA, user requirements etc for incorporation into design history or technical construction
