Description product designers in the design and development of small precision electro-mechanical assemblies within a quality orientated organisation (ideally medical instruments)
A function as a key team member of a new product development project team To execute all design & development activities as tasked by the project manager, liaising with both internal team, support staff and external sub-contractors as necessary to achieve the development goals. Preparation and review of all project and product ocumentation. Conduct design and development activities to ensure that manufacturing and project target costs and timescales are met. Identify technical solutions to key problems as and when necessary, and coordinate the implementation either through material choice, manufacturing process or practical design. Support the design/product/process verification and validation requirements according to Medical Device regulations (MDD and FDA). Demonstrate a proactive role in anticipating potential issues to ensure progress is uninterrupted. Use a hands-on or analytical approach to provide technical resolution of any outstanding problems. Be mindful of risk reduction strategies and partake in risk analysis and FMEA?s. Demonstrate good time management skills. Assist in the preparation of regular update reports and presentations. Use PC based instrumentation to validate solutions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Mechanical Engineering Degree or related degree relevant to post Relevant post graduation experience.
CANDIDATE PROFILE A good degree qualification combined with a high level of technical competency (both analytical and practical). 4 years plus postgraduate industrial experience culminating in a recognised product development role. 2 years in the design and development of small precision electro-mechanical assemblies within a quality orientated organisation (ideally medical instruments). A logical approach to the solution of problems and to the product development process with the capacity for original thinking. Knowledge of technical documents such as risk analysis, FMEA, user requirements etc for incorporation into design history or technical construction files. The ability to work with the minimum of supervision or as part of a closely integrated project team.
