Description
To execute all assigned design and development activities, both internal and sub-contract.

Support the design/product/process verification and validation requirements according to Medical Device regulations (MDD and FDA)

Demonstrate an understanding of, and contribute to, risk reduction strategies such as risk analysis and FMEA

Identify and implement technical solutions to key problems, either through material choice, manufacturing process or practical design.

Use a hands-on analytical approach to provide resolution of any outstanding problems.

Demonstrate a proactive role in anticipating potential issues to ensure progress is uninterrupted.

Conduct design and development activities to ensure that manufacturing and project target costs and timescales are met.

Preparation and review of all assigned project and product documentation

Use PC based instrumentation to validate solutions

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Engineering Degree.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Full Technical English communication skills
Full Microsoft Office software skills
Through & logical thinker

CANDIDATE PROFILE
1 year post graduation industrial experience in the medical device or similar industry would be beneficial. The successful candidate will work in a department dedicated to innovation and product development. You will support product concept activities, as well as development and release of new medical devices. You will possess sound practical skills with a abroad understanding of general engineering materials and design for manufacturing processes.
High level of engineering aptitude and an enthusiastic and organised approach to problem solving and product development. Working as part of a team contributing to driving projects to successful completion. Good communication skills are required for dealing with personnel in other departments as well as outside suppliers and service providers.
You should be self- motivated with excellent technical judgement and an ability to translate ideas into a successful product.
The position requires an aptitude to design and develop complex medical instruments though an analytical and hands on approach to the design process.
Knowledge or experience in any of the following would be beneficial , precision medical devices, vendor and service provider communication, devise regulatory requirement, small precision mechanisms and systems, materials (particularly engineering polymers, ceramics, adhesives, metal alloys) and a broad understanding of production processes, manufacturing methods (polymer moulding, mim, tube manipulation).
This position would be particularly suited to someone with an interest in or specialist knowledge of general surgery. However lack of knowledge in this field will not be viewed as a disadvantage as training will be provided.
