Description ROLE - RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS ENGINEER
SECTOR - AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
BASED - FORD TECHNICAL CENTRE, DUNTON, BASILDON, ESSEX
SALARY - circa £35,000 per annum PLUS £2K LOCATION ALLOWANCE
• THE OPPORTUNITY -
We have an opportunity for an experienced person, who has worked within the automotive industry to work on-site directly with Ford in the position of Applications Engineer. You will be the representative of our client within the Ford Technical Centre developing the latest in driveshaft technologies being applied to the current and forthcoming range of Ford motor vehicles.
Assist at the customer location with the coordination and communication of product application engineering and operate as the on-site technical interface for new and existing vehicle programs.
This position will be permanently based at Ford Development Centre, Dunton, Essex reporting to FoE Chief Engineer and will include some limited travel to Germany.
• KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE -
- Communicate effectively and efficiently between the customer and the account management team.
- Prepare design planning studies for potential new applications.
- Manage drawing distribution between the customer and the account team.
- Prepare technical information to support internal and external meetings.
- Assist with the customer's interpretation of quotation and design alterations.
- Assist the Application Engineer and the Liaison Application Engineer with customer relations, expectations and ways of working.
- Work with the customer's engineers on CAD vehicle driveline layout and packaging.
- Work with the customer's and our client's APQP systems and procedures.
- Promote or client's preferred design/engineering solutions at customer.
- Interface with the customer on vehicle design FMEAs.
- Conduct confirmation checks to incoming and outgoing requests/information of the customer.
- Represent multiple products from our client's portfolio at all appropriate customer locations as designated.
- Operate as the main communication route for advanced technical and engineering information.
- Work as part of our client's team to carry out activities to reduce internal and external costs e.g. VA/VE and manufacturing process changes.
• SPECIFIC FORD TASKS INCLUDE -
- Raise and manage WERS concerns
- AIMS system reviews and our client's associated activities
- Create and maintain the LOS (Level of Service) files for defined platforms
- Liaise with Parts Recall Centre; support with returned parts inspection.
• QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED -
An Engineering Degree or HNC qualification is preferred but consideration will be given to candidates with appropriate experience. Candidates should have well developed project leadership skills, communication skills (written and verbal), PC literacy together with CAD experience. Will also have knowledge of quality and statistical and problem solving techniques.
