This is an outstanding opportunity for a Degree qualified professional engineer to join this leading manufacturer of very specialised, high-tech machining solutions for the Aerospace and Industrial Power Sectors. This successful company is poised for further growth and seeks to strengthen its Technical Team through the appointment of an Applications & Development Manager.

THE ROLE
• This position represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join this true market leader within the aerospace sector and lead its drive to provide ever more innovative solutions to machining challenges. • Operating within a niche segment of the machine tool sector this is a key management role within the business and will be required to deploy outstanding qualities of leadership and technical competence to ensure the effective contribution of the Applications & Development teams to achieve Company objectives. • The Applications & Development Manager will develop the technology roadmap together with changes in culture, processes and procedures to ensure that this successful business maintains its reputation for innovation and customer focus. • The A & D Manager will lead the effective development of existing products and the design of new products with particular emphasis on Design for Manufacture, Conformity in Engineering and the requirements of Health and Safety Regulations. • The role will be responsible for contributing to strategic planning, establishing and strengthening of relationships with customers, universities and other research organisations and co-ordinating of company resources in the technical arena.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• A good first Degree in Electronic/Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and significant success in leading and managing teams in the development of new products and technologies, ideally this will include EDM or LASER machining • A successful background in product development and applications engineering for machining solutions in a technically challenging environment, ideally for the aerospace or industrial sectors • Proven success in managing, leading and motivating a small team of people within the technical function to exceed their own expectations. An inspirational, inclusive and results-oriented people manager able to forge collaborative relationships at all levels both within and externally to the business. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to make assertively, persuasive arguments and comfortable in customer-facing situations.
This position can be commutable from: Matlock, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Newark, Melton Mowbray, Loughborough, Leicester, Ashby de la Zouch, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Burton upon Trent, Lichfield, and Stoke on Trent, Birmingham, Coventry, Warwick, Redditch and Northampton.
