This is an outstanding opportunity for a Degree qualified professional engineer to join this leading manufacturer of very specialised, high-tech machining solutions for the Aerospace and Industrial Power Sectors. This successful company is poised for further growth and seeks to strengthen its Technical Team through the appointment of an Applications & Development Manager.
JOB TITLE: Project Manager

BASIC: Circa £45,000 + Benefits
THE ROLE
• Reporting to the Managing Director will ensure that customers’ contracts are delivered on time to specification and cost, typically projects are worth £400-500K and typically 3 to 4 projects will be handled simultaneously.
• Risk assessment/Mitigation and budget management are essential responsibilities of this role and the job holder will plan projects from start to finish, identifying resource requirements and developing the work plan using the best available methods to ensure a robust plan with appropriate contingencies built in.
• Provide leadership and organisational skills to ensure that projects are introduced in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Pivotal task will be to ensure that effective communications are made between the different functions within the project team.
• The role will play a crucial part in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and will play a significant part in the resolution of quality problems. He/She will report on project progress, compile reports and make presentations to the Senior Management Team and customers as required.
• Confidence in customer facing roles will be essential as the job holder will manage all customer acceptance visits and the management of site customer support through the installation, commissioning and final acceptance of product.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Candidates should be qualified to a minimum of degree level in Materials/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar technical qualification and/or have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship would be advantageous. Ideally this will be within a precision manufacturing/machine tool or aerospace/industrial environment
• The ability to manage, lead and motivate a small multi-disciplined team across various sections of the business in the successful delivery of non-conventional machine tools, preferably into the aerospace sector to the value of around £450k.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to make persuasive arguments and comfortable in customer-facing situations
• As the role will need to exercise influence over highly competent and knowledgeable engineers the Project Manager must have good technical comprehension of other disciplines beside their own and the ability to discuss highly technical matters with others professionals.
• The ability to use Microsoft Project as well as other packages within the MS Office Suite essential, Prince 2 certification would be useful. Knowledge of export licensing requirements would be useful but training will be given as appropriate.
