Description
Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, the role of buyer will allow you to get involved in with a variety of projects and lead on some low level procurements for goods and services.
Day to day duties will include:
- Tender and negotiate value for money contracts, for goods and services
- Investigate, plan and implement reverse auctions with our Auction provider
- Assist in developing pre-reverse auction specification and bid analysis methods
- Appraise suppliers and implement continuous improvement steps into contract monitoring
- Assist in writing the policies and procedures manual
- Support the Best Value programme by advising on procurement across a range of services
- Develop business cases including managing risk
- Assist in the introduction of e-procurement and procurement cards
- Develop excellent communication with suppliers, contractors and customers for the provision of efficient procurement
- Assist Strategic Procurement team in the promotion of the procurement function
- Advise on technical matters e.g. Standing Orders and EU Directives
You will have experience of working within a procurement department and an understanding of an end to end procurement cycle. Knowledge of public sector legislation would be an advantage but is not essential for the role. | | |
