Description This vacancy is for a Stress Engineer within the Filton Manufacturing Support Team.
The job involves the analysis of metallic and composite aircraft structure where a report of a manufacturing non conformance or divergence from drawing is received. Working both independently and as part of a team, the engineer will perform analysis using Airbus standard static stressing methods to develop structural justifications for repairs and remedial actions.
The engineer will be required to liaise with the Fatigue and Damage Tolerance / Static Methods and Data groups in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments.
The engineer will support improvement initiatives to increase the teams efficiency whilst maintaining compliance to all processes and procedures related to the manufacturing support operation.
Educational Requirements:
Educated to Engineering Degree level or possess suitable experience in the engineering field.
Technical Skills:
A minimum of 2 to 3 years working as an engineer, preferably in the aircraft industry, involved in static and/or fatigue analysis of metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
An understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for static stressing together with the ability to develop these methods and to apply them to structural analysis problems arising from manufacturing non-conformities.
The ability to interpret production drawings and non-conformity documentation.
Some knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Aircraft production methods and processes.
- Fatigue and damage tolerance concepts.
- Application of FE analysis.
- Stress analysis and design concepts of composite structure.
Other Skills Required:
Experience of PC and mainframe computer systems.
A team player with a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle.
