Description Renishaw plc was founded in 1973, a UK company and is regarded as a world leader in the design and manufacture of precision metrology equipment and systems. We employ over 2,000 people in more than 30 locations to supply and support our customers on a world wide basis.
Renishaw currently have an opportunity for an individual to work in the optics section of the Encoders division. The role will involve the design and assembly of design and test equipment as well as the development and testing of new encoder products.
KEY OUTPUTS AND DELIVERABLES
• Involvement in product design (practical and theoretical based) • Design and assembly of test equipment (optical, mechanical and electronic) • Day to day running of the laboratory (maintaining equipment, ensuring lab safety etc)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE:
All applicants are required to have the following:
• A minimum of a 2:2 degree (or equivalent) in Physics or an other engineering subject (with substantial optics components) • Demonstrable skills in optics • Demonstrable skills in scientific/engineering programming
Although not essential, it is desirable if applicants have the following:
• Skills in physical optical and ray-based optical design techniques • Automated data acquisition (hardware and software) • Skills in electronic design methods
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The individual in this role must be self-motivated and organised, with the ability to work to deadlines.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING:
The following opportunities exist for further development:
• Training in the use of appropriate software and hardware when required • Support for chartered Engineer or Physicist status (subject to line manager approval)
LOCATION:
This role is based at the New Mills site at Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire.
