Description Summary of the role Leading a small dedicated team based in a nuclear manufacturing environment, this role seeks to ensure that nuclear plant maintenance is effectively targeted and delivered against safety case and production led availability targets.
Key accountabilities · Facility regulatory focal point for maintenance related nuclear license conditions · Managing the process that underpins nuclear plant maintenance known as EMIT (Examination Maintenance, Inspection and Test) · Ensuring the Facility remains compliant against changes in legislation with potential maintenance impacts
Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience, Skills · An in depth understanding of maintenance practices particularly in radiological/toxic environments as well as standards of maintenance associated with nuclear safety system performance requirements · Electrical / Mechanical knowledge of building services plant and equipment. · Maintenance practises, technologies and techniques. · Principles of radiological, toxic and environmental hazard and risk assessment. · Team building techniques. · Fault finding techniques and methodologies. · Company Assurance and Maintenance requirements and associated standards and statutory regulations. · Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII) Licence Conditions (LCs) and Environment Agency Requirements · Safety case permissioning regimes · HNC or equivalent within an engineering discipline with extensive engineering experience. · Recognised engineering apprenticeship · A candidate with the right balance of maintenance and nuclear industry experience will be appointed as Maintenance Technical Authority (MTA), a role which formally links the individual to the Head of Maintenance at AWE and implies greater responsibility for maintenance policy implementation · Experience in a high hazard processing industry, preferably the nuclear industry · Application of Condition Based Maintenance · Staff management experience · Computer literate · Effective communications, both written and oral · Sound and reliable judgement · Conflict resolution · Good organisational skills · Projects, resource and people management
