Description
Dedicated to building and sustaining a world class enterprise, that sets the standard on an international basis, Cummins Power Generation in Kent (CPGK) is part of a global power systems business, operating at the forefront of new applications in continuous power generation. Reporting directly to the Supplier Quality Manager, the role has accountability for all activities associated with supplier quality.
Duties include supervision of the Supplier Quality Technician and operating the “Focus Supplier” process;
• Responding to supplier defect reports and ensuring that effective containment action is in place
• Requesting and monitoring Supplier Corrective Actions to ensure timely and effective responses
• Communicating supplier quality performance to Focus Suppliers
• Operating the “Supplier Paynter Chart” process to drive corrective actions at problematic suppliers
• Operating the “Supplier Recovery” process to improve performance at problematic suppliers
• Maintaining Focus Supplier process measures to demonstrate SQI performance
• Maintaining the Focus Supplier matrix to show the status of key suppliers
The role also includes visiting Suppliers to follow up and audit corrective actions, take a lead role in new supplier assessment exercises, develop supplier competencies using Quality Planning tools and producing and continually improving measures and reports for internal and external stakeholders. The ability and willingness to travel is therefore essential.
Essential Skills:
Applicants should preferably be educated to degree level and have supply experience.
Applicants should also have demonstrable quality/manufacturing organisation experience preferably, knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes, Lead Auditor status (preferable), and knowledge/experience of six sigma.
All applicants must be able to demonstrate superb communication skills, good judgement and a measured, professional approach.
