Description Manufacturing Engineer
The successful candidates will provide engineering services to support world class manufacturing standards. Key tasks will include product integrations, product and process value engineering, automation and technology advancement, demand flow technology, cost improvement and continuous process improvement using 6 Sigma methodologies.
Responsibilities:
• Lead cost reduction initiatives within the plant to improve the cost competitiveness of the manufacturing facility. • Provide engineering support for the manufacture of Truck & Trailer products to world-class standards ensuring that products are built in the safest and most cost effective and efficient manner. • Co-ordinate the implementation of new product and processes into the plant and implement major engineering changes into the manufacturing processes for existing product. • Map out future engineering value-adding developments and initiatives using 6 Sigma methodologies that will sustain and promote the competitive edge of our manufacturing facility. • Interface with production, quality and the design engineering teams to ensure that the manufacturing engineering function is supporting supply chain on an ongoing basis. • Provide the engineering support to lean manufacturing programmes, ie through process improvements, automation, product re-engineering and cost improvement initiatives. • Act as a resource, providing timely long term engineering solutions, while soliciting the ideas of others and using all available resources in the process.
Minimum Requirements:
• Business Focus: Actively contributes to business strategies, practices, processes and procedures by linking engineering activities and objectives to the plant business plan. Keeps up to date with business developments and trends by linking project initiatives and project plans to the long-term strategy. Achieves exceptional cost reduction results through leading cost reduction initiatives within the plant. • Customer Focus: Responds enthusiastically and with a great sense of urgency to customer requests and requirements by meeting and exceeding customer requests and expectations. • Problem solving/Decision making: Solves complex problems arising in the design and manufacture of the product. Ensure that new or existing processes do not adversely affect the health and safety of every person in the factory. • Planning/Organisational Skills: Strong project planning and time management skills, with the ability to balance present demands against long-range business plan objectives. Meets stretch deadlines and objectives on an ongoing basis, by removing roadblocks and utilising all available resources. • Communication/influence: Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas and results in a clear and concise manner. A strong team player that is capable of working with others.
• Technical Expertise: A degree in Engineering [production, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial]. Demonstrates sound product and process knowledge with a minimum of 5 years experience in a world class-manufacturing environment, preferably in an automotive/automation environment.
