Description A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Human Factors Engineer
To be responsible to the Operability Manager for assuring him, through delivery of Operability and Human Factors related acceptance evidence and demonstration of the adequacy and effectiveness of the design, that submarines for which our client has design responsibility can be safely and effectively operated by the specified target audience.
Key Responsibility areas Provide subject Matter Expertise as required for all product Man/Machine and Human/Computer Interfaces. Respond to MMI/HCI and other Human Factors related queries, undertake HF related analysis as required and provide Product Safety Team representation at design reviews and other technical meetings. Prepare and review technical reports covering operator interfaces and operations Take special responsibility for the Operability aspects of Internal Communication Design. Provide specialist advice in support of new Nuclear Submarine designs. Collect and analyse operator performance evidence from Submarine Shore Trainers and Sea Trails in support of acceptance deliverables for the Astute class submarine design.
Person Specification A Graduate Human Factors Engineer with experience in the field of Human Factors associated with the design complex primary work stations in high risk industries. Knowledge of nuclear submarine operations, manning and equipment. Adaptable and capable of working within a multi-discipline team delivering high quality reports to tight deadlines and responding to unplanned demands. Competent Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Qualifications Educated to degree level, preferably with a second degree in HF/ergonomics related subjects. Member of Ergonomics Society Ability to communicate complex technical arguments verbally and on paper.
Experience A Human Factors Practitioner with extensive product related experience in MMI design of primary workstations within high risk environments. Knowledge of the operation of nuclear submarine operations, manning and equipment would be a distinct advantage. | | |
