Description Digital Systems Engineer Qualifications and/or Skills needed by applicants Honours Degree in Electronics or equivalent. Spacecraft Command & Control / Data packetisation standards. Matlab (& Simulink), VHDL, DSP design. Experience in analogue and digital / digital signal processing design and analysis. Radar or Navigation systems. Spacecraft engineering. Subcontract oversight. Job Outline: To provide technical expertise in support of system engineering for highly accurate clock signal generation and system timing analysis ensuring a high degree of engineering competence with strong digital and analogue analytical skills. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide expertise and participate in projects, studies and bids as directed Interpret customer requirements and define system/subsystems architectures for digital systems and signal processing aspects of spacecraft instrumentation Define command and control schemes, telecommand & telemetry requirements, reference clock generation and timing requirements, and instrument data formatting and compression. Develop architectures and prepare detailed function and performance specifications at all levels. Perform analyses and maintain budgets to confirm compliance to requirements taking into account environmental factors and appropriate design and system margins. Work with subcontractors and suppliers to establish realistic requirements at system level and critically review their designs and analyses, negotiating technical issues to achieve overall satisfactory performance from the system. Analyse system, subsystem, and equipment test results and disposition non-compliances and requests for waiver / deviation. Contribute to model philosophy development and AIV planning at all levels Manage engineering work packages including work placed on contractors or suppliers and ensure timely completion of tasks within cost and schedule. Work alongside other engineering disciplines to develop robust technical solutions for the space environment. Maintain a good working relationship with customers/subcontractors in particular liaison on engineering aspects while retaining intellectual property from actual/potential competitors. Contribute to R&D planning, product development and technical coordination with other business units.
