Description Engineering Operations Manager - Airfield Maintenance Operations BAA Heathrow to c. £46,000 Plus Bonus, Pension, L.A., Healthcare, Travel & Shopping Discounts etc… Relocation Assistance Available BAA have been implementing major changes at London Heathrow, with the goal of transforming its reputation as the busiest Airport in Europe to one where it is also the most highly-regarded. This doesn't simply involve building new, state-of-the-art terminals, or re-inventing environments & processes in order to handle greater volumes of passengers... By committing to profound cultural shifts across the business as a whole, BAA is also committing to a future where customer satisfaction is consistently excellent, not just 'usually good enough'. Central to this strategy has been a 3 year recruitment programme designed to attract "highest calibre" management talent from other industry sectors, bringing with it the fresh ideas and world class perspectives the Airport requires to achieve its goals. One of three managers responsible for Airside Civil (inc runway), Electrical (inc airfield lighting), Electronic & Mechanical maintenance operations - through 4 shift teams, other more specialised BAA engineering support resources, and BAA's sub-contract engineering partners - this role is focused on the optimum performance, reliability, safety and operational cost-effectiveness of the Airport's most important asset. Leadership qualities are as a result more important than any particular area of technical strength. Candidates are likely to be degree-qualified engineers with a broad academic confidence, together with... · Strong operational management experience gained in an organisation known for its high standards · A background involving the leadership of process improvement initiatives in an environment where asset reliability & performance is business-critical. · A good knowledge of maintenance-based C.I. techniques and philosophies (TPM, Condition Monitoring, 6 Sigma etc). · The motivation necessary to apply these skills successfully in a completely new industry · The ability to adapt to a highly complex business with a mix of old and new assets · Leadership qualities that include a strong commitment to excellent customer service, commercial astuteness, and a natural coaching style.
