One of three managers responsible for Airside Civil (inc runway), Electrical (inc airfield lighting), Electronic & Mechanical maintenance operations - through 4 shift teams, other more specialised BAA engineering support resources, and BAA's sub-contract engineering partners - this role is focused on the optimum performance, reliability, safety and operational cost-effectiveness of the Airport's most important asset. Leadership qualities are as a result more important than any particular area of technical strength.
Candidates are likely to be degree-qualified engineers with a broad academic confidence, together with...
· Strong operational management experience gained in an organisation known for its high standards
· A background involving the leadership of process improvement initiatives in an environment where asset reliability & performance is business-critical.
· A good knowledge of maintenance-based C.I. techniques and philosophies (TPM, Condition Monitoring, 6 Sigma etc).
· The motivation necessary to apply these skills successfully in a completely new industry
· The ability to adapt to a highly complex business with a mix of old and new assets
· Leadership qualities that include a strong commitment to excellent customer service, commercial astuteness, and a natural coaching style.
