Principal Consultant/ Technical Project Manager / Research Project Manager – Missile Systems – Research Projects.

Salary c £35.5K - £50K + benefits
Our clients are involved in the design, development and production of sensors, battlefield systems, hazard analysis, materials science and environmental testing services. They research and produce some of the worlds most advanced fuzes for four main categories of weapons: anti-air target, anti-surface target, anti-armour and indirect fire.
The primary purpose of the role is to lead research programmes, as the Research project Manager and/or to take a role as and Engineering Project Manager on a development project. You would be required to interface with the MoD technical community and to bid and win new business.
Key tasks would include:
• The management of all engineering activities for a specific project/programme, delivering an engineering solution
• To understand the application and limitations of all relevant design tools
• To identify and manage technical risks
• The support of business development activities including the preparation of bids and proposals
• To liaise with the customer and sub contractors on technical matters relating to the programme
• To generate detailed technical requirements specifications and design concept schemes from customer requirements
• Take full responsibility for meeting deadlines and budgets
• Technical authority for individual programmes
• Accountable for managing packages of work within a large project
The successful Systems Consultant / Technical Project Manager will ideally be Chartered Engineers with a strong technical background in R&D of military products together with strong interpersonal and management abilities. Candidates should have some of the following:
• You should have the ability to win business and satisfy customers
• Management of small teams
• Technical problem solving abilities
• Experience of Radar Seekers / SARE, radar proximity sensors, IR seekers
• Experience in Ordnance Fuzing systems
• An understanding of RF technology, components and systems
• An understanding of active and passive IR systems
• An understanding of Digital Signal Processing
• Knowledge of antennas
• Experience of designing for the military environment
• Use of mathematical modelling tools
• Experience of missile systems
