Description
In pursuit of continuous cost effective product performance and quality improvements, our client requires a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their Product Design Engineering department.
Working within and leading a team of dedicated Engineers, the successful candidate will be required to execute mechanical component designs across the full model range. Components may include light and heavy steel fabrications (Inc analysis), powertrain installation and non metallic bodywork/panels.
The Role:
Direct and participate in the design, development and production of new product components and system concepts, ensuring designs meet functional requirements and comply with all engineering and regulatory requirements
Develops project plans, functional, design and technical specifications
Take the leadership role in the problem resolution process
Lead multi-functional component and system development teams
Conduct technical evaluations and assessments of competitive product
Requirements:
Requires an Engineering Degree
7-10 years experience in Product design in a relevant field
Leadership ability with good presentation and communication skills
A strong engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials background
Ideally you will have a sound understanding of; dynamically loaded welded steel fabrications, power-train installations, non metallic component design, and material application but this is not a pre-requisite
Analytical skills with the ability to develop product concepts; and a working knowledge/understanding of FMEA, DFMA, manufacturing techniques and project management
Strong problem solving techniques
Must be self motivated, flexible and able to work in a team environment
This role is available as Permanent or Contract
