Description
Europa are currently seeking to recruit a Principal Traffic Engineer to lead and manage the traffic team in devising, designing and implementing schemes to achieve maximum highway efficiency, effectiveness and safety within the borough. This includes the management of the team of six staff, consultants and contractors. As a Principal Engineer you will also be responsible for representing Europa at council meetings, preparing reports and professional advice and technical guidance on traffic engineering issues.Europa is committed to a heritage of professionalism and quality that makes us a respected supplier of integrated services in our industry. Main Duties and Responsibilities
· To efficiently manage the Traffic team including staff, resource and workload issues. · To provide up to date financial information on team costs, scheme costs and management of client budgets. · To prepare brief and estimates for new work. · To provide management reports and information including performance indicators on the team’s work. · To provide professional advice and technical guidance on traffic engineering issues · To ensure that the Traffic team possesses the range of skills required to carry out their duties professionally and efficiently. · To lead the team in devising, designing and implementing schemes and procedures to achieve maximum highway efficiency, effectiveness and safety in line with Council policies. · To lead the team to effectively manage contractors and consultants producing briefs and contract documents as required. · To deal with, in a sensitive and timely manner, complex correspondence and enquiries from and meetings with members of the community, Councilors, internal and external organisations. · To prepare reports including Council Committee items, sometimes of a complex nature. · To represent Europa at Council at meetings. · To comply with Europa’s and our client’s employment and procurement policies. · At the discretion of the Chief Highway Engineer such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.
Qualifications and Experience Essential:
· An academic qualification in the field of traffic or a related field · Membership of an appropriate professional body at a level to demonstrate continuing development in the field of traffic and related Good knowledge of all highway, traffic and transportation standards · Good knowledge of the design of traffic engineering techniques including traffic calming, traffic signals, parking etc · Good knowledge of construction techniques, site practices and supervision · Good knowledge of construction Health and Safety issues · Good knowledge of highway law as it affects traffic engineering · Good knowledge of current and emerging policies and strategies for sustainability · Experience of traffic engineering at a senior level covering most aspects of the key responsibilities of the role · Experience in the design and | | |
