Description
Are you the proactive engineer we need to steer the manufacture of the next generation of Cummins products? An outstanding opportunity exists for a self confident proactive engineer to join a key team that will speed up the whole method of bringing products to market. Planning and defining the manufacturing process, concurrently with product development, you’ll use your knowledge and experience to select the optimum route and location for manufacture.
You will be able to balance the needs of the product against feasibility, cost and quality requirements; to influence design and apply lean principles and methods. With proven project management skills, you can demonstrate the ability to prepare financial justifications, to work within budget constraints and to deliver complex engineering plans. At later stages in each project, your responsibilities will include specifications for new plant, facilities, tooling and sourcing. You’ll be part of the selection & assessment of suppliers using APQP & PPAP processes; working with suppliers to develop components and materials. You will be effective in working in diverse and cross-cultural teams and building relationships both within Cummins and in supplier organisations.
Essential Skills:
HNC as a minimum (or preferably a degree) in engineering.
Six sigma training would be an advantage but not essential
Significant experience with new process & product development in automotive or similar manufacturing engineering.
Experience in supplier development.
Project management experience ideally with global focus.
