Our client is a leading international engineering group that manufactures precision components and assemblies for the aerospace, industrial gas turbine, specialist automotive fastener and petrochemical markets.
The group based in Sheffield is a leading supplier of fabricated and machined assemblies to the aerospace market. They also carry out specialist processes such as super plastic forming, hydrobulging and electroforming.
They are seeking to recruit a CAD / CAM Engineer to join the team. The successful applicant will work in the CAD / CAM section of the Manufacturing Engineering team and key responsibilities include:
Supporting the effective utilisation of a wide range of CNC machinery through the preparation CNC programs and related documentation.
Providing a high level of support during the ‘prove out’ process of CNC programs to ensure delivery of robust and efficient production processes.
Supporting cost reduction opportunities by the introduction of improved machining processes and utilisation of the latest cutting tool technology.
The successful candidate will ideally be experienced in the use of Unigraphics software for modelling, drafting and CNC programming of up to 5 axis machine tools. Experience on an alternative high level Cad-Cam system would also be considered with suitable training being provided for the successful applicant.
You will possess an engineering-related degree or extensive relevant experience and will be capable of systematically analysing existing methods and making recommendations for improvement. You must be able to carry out Root Cause Analysis and implement Root Cause Corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence of errors with particular regard to manufacturing processes. It is also essential that you have the skills to work in a team with minimum supervision to agreed plans and timescales.
Experience within the aerospace industry is desirable and candidates with an automotive background will also be considered.
Located in Sheffield, this role is commutable from areas such as Rotherham, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Macclesfield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Wakefield.
