Part of a major multinational group, with several Queens Awards & voted No.2 in Management Today's 2006 "Most Admired Company" report, our Client is an R&D and Quality driven manufacturing organisation specialising in leading-edge automotive engine emission reduction technology.
A period of strong commercial growth, the significance of extremely high-value WIP/Inventory, the potential for future competition from "low-cost" production regions & a desire to adopt the benefits achieved in industry-leading, Lean manufacturing sectors are strong influences on this role, which has been created by internal promotion.
With a wide-ranging brief that encompasses all processes within the production business, including production planning to maximise operational utilisation, identifying opportunities to reduce costs, waste in all forms, inventory & non value added activity, the job holder will take full functional production responsibility, for the development of a flexible workforce with an enthusiasm for reacting to changing business needs, for maintaining control of production cost, quality and on-time/on-spec customer delivery, and for developing people and processes that can deliver truly World Class performance. The successful candidate will therefore combine a proven track record in both operational & change management, gained in an organisation or sector noted for Best Practice in both areas, together with the following credentials:
A high-level technical or business management qualification · Experience relevant to highly technical batch process production. · The ability to inspire & engage at all levels... shopfloor to boardroom. · Commercial outlook & relevant operational management skills. · A successful track record leading process and cultural change projects · The motivation to make a real difference to the business. · Lean / Continuous Improvement / Kaizen credentials.
