Description Position Purpose Summary The upkeep, maintenance and improvement of machinery / equipment, tooling and building. Set up and changeover of tooling and machinery. Proper storage & disposal (Duty of Care) for all Chemicals and Hazardous waste on site. Meeting or exceeding budget targets, whilst reducing the ratio corrective/preventive maintenance and reducing downtime.
Primary Responsibilities 1. Machine / Equipment Maintenance Implementation of a maintenance plan to ensure proper preventive maintenance of all machinery / equipment. Set up and maintenance of a system to track the preventive & corrective maintenance, costs and downtime of all machinery / equipment due to unscheduled maintenance. Responsible to meet or exceed budget targets. 2. Tooling Maintenance Implementation of a maintenance plan to ensure proper preventive maintenance of all tooling. Set up and maintenance of a system to track the preventive & corrective maintenance, costs and downtime of all machinery / equipment due to unscheduled maintenance. Responsible to meet or exceed budget targets. 3. Spare Parts & Tooling Management Identify, track and manage the level and costs of all (critical) spare/replacement parts & tooling (maintenance stock). 4. Building Maintenance Implementation of a maintenance plan to ensure proper preventive maintenance of the building (outside & inside). Set up and maintenance of a system to track the preventive & corrective maintenance and costs. 5. Set up of Machinery & Tooling Set up / Changeover of machinery / tooling in accordance with the production schedule with a focus on downtime minimisation. 6. Improvements Continuous improvement of tooling, machinery/equipment in order to enhance product quality, process efficiency and performance (e.g. longer stand time of tooling, lower cost, improved capability, decreased change over time etc). 7. Chemicals (Hazardous Waste) storage & disposal Ensure that storage and disposal of all chemical & hazardous materials meet all legal and company expectations as identified the ISO14001management system.
Other activities outside of this area of responsibilities can be required when deemed important for the running/continuance of the organisation.
General Expectations Almost all maintenance activities are in support of production. All activities are therefore to be scheduled and carried out to ensure minimum disturbance and maximum efficiency and support of all production processes. Work in accordance with all company expectations and requirements set out in the employee handbook (as a minimum).
Knowledge/ (Technical) Competence & Experience
HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering (minimum) City & Guilds I.E.E. Wiring Regulations 16th Edition Knowledge/Experience of PLC controlled processes Knowledge/Experience of pneumatic & robotic systems Knowledge/Experience of faultfinding & rectifying problems with machinery
Position within the organisation The position of Maintenance Engineer is a senior position within the organisation. The Maintenance Engineer reports directly to the General Manager and is a member of the Operations Team.
