Description Hardware Design Development Manager / Hardware Team Leader –Military Radio Communications –DSP/ RF/ TETRA. The Hardware Manager will be responsible for managing and leading teams of engineers engaged in the design, development and test of hardware at unit equipment and systems level. Provide leadership and technical guidance to Hardware engineers and design team members. Key Tasks and accountabilities – The Hardware Development Manager/ Hardware Team Leader will be responsible for managing staff in the preparation and maintenance of design studies, bids, technical proposals, design cost and works cost estimates, development programmes, loading requirements and progress reporting. Act as Technical Authority for performance specifications, hardware specifications, test specifications and technical reports. Carry out appraisals of individual engineers, setting and reviewing objectives and maintaining Development Action Plans. Develop and present innovative ideas. to improve and extend the range of the Company's products and services. Ensure the most cost-effective solutions are provided to problems in new designs, and assist Post Design Services on existing designs. Liase with other departments and/or customers to ensure that the design requirements are met in full. Able to proficiently interpret customer requirements and design cost-effective technical solutions. Demonstrate strong commercial awareness in the technical domain. Manage customer presentations and staff meetings on technical issues. Effective supervision and guidance of staff. Responsible for cost centre budget. Technical and Professional Skills required – Knowledge of Systems Design, RF, Digital and Analogue circuit design, Safety, security aspects, encryption. Knowledge of radio communication principles and application of such to development of products. Knowledge of TETRA an advantage. Strong leadership skills. Self motivated, able to manage and deliver work against agreed objectives. Project planning, work package management knowledge. Educational background/Qualifications – Degree or equiv in Electronics or similar. Team Leadership and Management experience in a similar hardware engineering/hardware team leading management role. Must be able to obtain SC clearance Keywords – DSP, RF, TETRA, Radio Communications, Encryption. Salary £45K-£55K plus bonus and benefits package. – Location – Basingstoke, Hampshire
