A vacancy has arisen for an Aircraft Manoeuvrability Engineer with a modelling & simulation bias.

The role holder will be responsible for conducting model-based design studies to support the definition, validation and verification of top-level requirements for Aircraft Ground Operations (Braking and Steering Functions) and Landing Gear Systems.

The work will also include support to the safety engineers through modelling and simulation.

The role holder will be responsible for the following:

Building simulation models to assess and derive the top-level requirements for primarily landing gears and landing gear systems.

Support the safety engineering team in validating Aircraft safety requirements.

Support the landing gear design teams by integrating Aircraft models in to Simulators: Desktop, Virtual Test Rigs, Test Rig and Full Cockpit Flight Simulators.

Produce reports and information for external customers, through modelling and simulation.

Create modelling policies for landing gear and coordinate buy-off in wider modelling community

The successful candidate will be able to:

Demonstrate a good understanding of dynamical system modelling: subjects including Control, Mechanics, Hydraulics and Electronics.

Build, validate and execute simulation models based on the captured needs of the design engineers.

Handle and manipulate large quantities of technical data, and produce technical reports.

Demonstrate the competencies required at the Professional operating level, as well as a sound understanding of system engineering processes and activities.

Demonstrate strong team working and communication skills, and to show a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the overriding principle.

Be educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualification) with industrial experience.

Knowledge of the application of modelling techniques throughout the design life cycle and an understanding of aircraft production methods and processes is essential.

Experience of standard tools (e.g. MSC.ADAMS, Matlab, Simulink, etc.) would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
