Description Principal Microwave Engineer
As a principle engineer within the RF & Electronics Product Group you will be working within one of the most technically advanced RF and Microwave product groups.
The RF&E designs & develops state of the art microwave payload equipments for telecommunications and earth observation spacecraft.
These equipments are based on microwave hybrid technology using chip and wire concepts in both High Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (HTCC) and Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC).
The equipments operate in frequency ranges from DC to 30GHz.
The designs produced include a wide range of microwave functions including;
General Amplifiers
Low Noise Amplifiers
Voltage Controlled Oscillators
Phase Locked Loops
Mixers
Filters (Micro-strip & Cavity)
Voltage Regulators
All designs are at the leading edge of space technology.
As a principle engineer you will be expected to take technical responsibility as the responsible engineer for an equipment in which the above technologies and functions are included.
Such equipments include;
Low Noise Amplifiers
Frequency Converters
Frequency Generators
Pre & Post Processors for digital processor payloads.
Skills Required for the Job:
MSc In Microwave Physics (ideally)
Strong team leadership & communication skills
Understanding of the principles of amplifiers, oscillators, phase locked loops, filters and mixers.
Good Understanding of Microwave Transmission line theory & design in micro-strip, strip-line and co-planar waveguide structures.
Technical degree or diploma.
Use of CAD/CAE tools, ADS in particular
Appreciation of the relevant design drivers and associated manufacturing issues, for the space environment
Main Activities:
Design of Microwave Oscillators, Amplifiers and Mixers, using microwave hybrid LTCC and HTCC packaging technology.
Preparation of design data packs including (Performance Analysis, Part Stress Analysis, Worse Case Analysis, Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR))
Specification and technical procurement of MMIC and IC components.
Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals and technical presentations.
