Description
EEE Commodity Manager
The commodity manager is responsible for selected sub-commodities within EEE components and their supplier.
In this role he/she is the main contact person for supplier relationship management.
Tasks such as the negotiation of frame contracts, securing of savings for the supplier or developing a commodity and supplier strategy, assessment and minimizing risks are essential parts of the job. In addition the commodity manager is leading the sourcing phase for a new supplier as well as their approval and the yearly supplier evaluation and development. The role requires close cooperation with all sites and subsidiaries, e.g. to define the forecast and the resulting commodity planning. Part of this activity is the maintenance of the standardized component list.
The sub-commodities in question are some of the following list (may be also depending on the candidate):
Connectors, Micro Circuits, ASIC, VLSIs (FPGAs, Mems, P,..), Relays, Thermistances, Switches, Heaters, Transistors, Opto-Electronics).
The ideal candidate brings experience with EEE components either in procurement, as component engineer with a commercial interest or be coming from a supplier.
Internally the candidate will be cooperating closely with the local procurement teams in UK, France and Germany and interacting with the projects, e.g. for alignment of the commodity strategy, execution of the strategy, defining and maintaining the component forecast.
Externally the candidate will be working as closely as possible with the suppliers to perform the supplier relationship management. This includes the negotiation of frame contracts to perform a yearly supplier evaluation and depending on the results set up agreed actions where necessary.
The sourcing phase includes e.g. the identification of potential suppliers, to check whether this supplier fulfils the Corporate requirements as a candidate and to finally approve the candidate.
The commodity strategy typically takes into consideration the space market conditions, the supplier situation, technological developments, minimizing the risks within space applications, etc.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
