Description ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEMS PROCESS INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS TYNE & WEAR
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop and deliver power, control and monitoring solutions for a variety of heat management projects. Solutions will satisfy both the project technical and commercial needs.
As Electrical Design Engineer you will be required to establish project technical requirements through interpretation of specifications and other technical documentation, to design power and control solutions that satisfy these project requirements, to ensure all bought out equipment (panels, transformers, cables and control/monitoring equipment) associated with projects is correctly specified and to complete Technical Bid Analysis (TBA) for bought out equipment, and lead technical discussions with vendors as appropriate.
Your duties will also include checking and approving vendor design documents, ensuring they meet project requirements and company standards, generating equipment and “system level” test and commissioning documentation, attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at vendors works, ensuring that equipment is build and tested to the appropriate standards and documents and carrying out on-site test and commissioning of power and control systems once on-site installation is complete.
You will represent the company in engineering design discussions with, for example, Clients and sub-contractors and will assist in the development of new (and modifications to existing) engineering software/techniques that will enhance the service provided to their clients.
To succeed as Electrical Design Engineer you should be qualified to degree standard in an Electrical Engineering discipline, with proven design experience within a process, oil and gas, or petrochem environment (previous knowledge of heat tracing would be advantageous) and some experience of specifying, design, and testing of electrical control panels, power transformers and LV power distribution systems (including hazardous area applications).
You should be computer literate and able to utilise in-house design software packages and proficient in a wide variety of MS Office programs (Word, Excel). You should be a self-starter/self-motivated, detail oriented and a good communicator, both written and oral and someone who can act as an “Ambassador” for the company when interacting with Clients.
