Description This Service Engineer position has responsibility for providing excellent service support to power generation customers and channel partners (distributors).
Provide overall service engineering support for the production and field support of power generation equipment, conduct failure analysis to assist field service network and Cummins in problem definition, tracking and reporting early failure trend data to the appropriate functional area for prompt analysis and corrective action and define quality problem statements to drive corrective actions. The role also includes identifying repetitive service problems, initiate 7-step problem solving problem statement and document critical customer issues for Quality Council review and action. Assist Sales and Marketing Departments at various product shows and presentations, active participation defining root cause and developing engineered solutions to problems, summarize conclusions of service disputes and report to the appropriate sales organization, assist in overall assessment of distributor/dealer service capability and travel to distributors, dealers, OEMs, and end user's sites as needed (generally about 10%, not greater than 25%).
Educated in at least HNC/ HND or degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline with secondary language skills advantageous. All applicants should ideally have some practical power-generation experience in technical design, service, commissioning, installation, maintenance and repair and/or experience with Low and Medium voltage systems advantageous and/or knowledge of control systems would be an advantage. However in the least some experience and knowledge of problem solving/ process improvement methodologies and solid communication skills with experience of presenting to groups. Experience of training others would be useful along with the ability to interact and co-operate with diverse personalities and cultures at all levels of seniority and responsibility and have a ‘customer focused’ attitude with an inherent sense of urgency.
