Description
An excellent position has now arisen for a Senior Engineer to join this world leader company offering a complete range of design, build and support solutions across both defence and commercial sectors. As a Senior Engineer (Marine) you will be required to prepare, check and where appropriate authorise the design information in support of Bid work for future and current projects, both commercial and naval.
Your work will entail: ship system design with due regard to the relevant regulations (MCA LY2 code, Classification Rules, and IMO Regulations); preparing mechanical system diagrams; equipment selection and detailed specification writing; ship systems cost estimates; concept and detailed weight estimates from previous vessels and suppliers’ data;
machinery arrangement development; and undertaking trials programmes.
To succeed in this role you will ideally be a Degree qualified Chartered Engineer with proven experience in ship design. You will possess excellent computer literacy, in particular use of spreadsheets or MathCAD, a good understanding of CAD (ideally AutoCAD), an understanding of vessel construction and outfit, familiarity with Classification Society Rules and Regulations and practical shipyard experience.
Based in the south west, our client is a world leader offering a complete range of design, build and support solutions across both defence and commercial sectors. In addition to its traditional refit and maintenance role, they are increasingly working at the earlier stages of major warship design and construction programmes. In the commercial arena they undertake high-tech engineered composite work, overhaul railway equipment and builds, converts and refits large yachts and specialist craft.
