HF/VHF Communications Systems Engineer
Crawley, West Sussex
Salary c £25K - £35K + Benefits
This role would suit candidates with a background in RF Comms - someone who would like to remain hands on and willing to learn and gain experience of the full systems lifecycle.
Candidates should be able to interface with both the customer (Naval clients) and the bid teams proposing the technical architecture and providing the supporting documentation, costs and plans. If you have had experience of proposal writing then this would be ideal - although full training will be given.
Skills should include:
• Being technical competent in HF and VHF communication systems
• Able to explain difficult engineering issues clearly
• Able to create design and validation requirements and resolve technical problems
• Proficient in systems tools such as DOORS
• Able to build good relationships with internal and external customers
• Estimating and costing of projects
Expertise I one or more of the following would be beneficial:
• Latest communication technologies
• ALE and ARQ techniques
• Communication Systems Architecture
• Ethernet transmission and networks
• TDM transmission
• Network synchronisation
• Internet protocols
• Encryption and authentication
• Data transmission and conversion
• Signal processing systems
• Documentation conforming to ISO and CMMI standards
