Description Principal Systems Engineer LONDON
Salary c £38K - £41K plus benefits
Our clients provide project management and design solutions to the transportation and security markets, primarily in the UK, but also in mainland Europe and worldwide. The current portfolio is primarily Rail industry related, split between mainline rail and London Underground. This has historically focussed in the rail telecommunications arena, software and system integration of real time control systems as well as turnkey projects across a range of engineering disciplines.
The primary purposes of the role is to produce designs, costs, programs and work packages for Bids and projects, taking account of the requirements of the contract / tender, project timescales, budget and relevant standards and legislation.
Key tasks include:
• Design solutions for new services and systems • To create systems designs based upon suitable equipment, software and services to meet technical and cost targets. • To ensure that designs conform to relevant standards, specifications, safety requirements and legislation. • To write procurement, design installation, test and other specifications and review specifications created by others. • To produce estimate costs for design solutions • To report on progress • To present designs at internal and external design reviews and review designs of others • To produce work package documentation for projects • Support Sales and Marketing teams • Prepare cost estimates for inclusion in bids
Technical skills should include: • The ability to read and understand technical and customer specifications • The ability to work to deadlines – possibly under pressure • Must be able to demonstrate previous design experience • An understanding of the role of the designer in the applications of the CDM regulations
Ideally candidates will be degree qualified in and Engineering subject and working towards MIET and/or CEng status – ore relevant equivalent experience.
