Systems Architect - Belfast, Northern Ireland - £50K-£60K + Exc Benefits
Our clients are one of the world's largest electronics groups and have a centre of excellence for missile systems design, development and manufacture, and their range of missile products are widely accepted as being amongst the most innovative in the defence market.
The System Architect will have responsibility for the design and development of System Architectures including the definition and allocation of requirements for all hardware and software elements of the System. The role will cover all aspects of Systems Engineering including requirements capture, conceptual design, system specification, architectural design, design evaluation, performance estimation & system validation. The candidate will also ensure that all agreed quality standards and processes are adhered to. The System Architect will play a key role within an Integrated Project Team and will act as a focal point for engineering specialists from other disciplines (hardware design, software design, test, safety, etc.). A key aspect of the jobholder's credentials will be the ability to influence potential partners and to establish customer confidence. The jobholder will be expected to operate within broad guidelines with minimal direction outside of the company's strategic direction, and be capable of providing input for Strategic Planning.
Key tasks would include the evaluation of customer/operational needs in order to define system requirements; derivation of requirements and allocation to system, sub-system, software, etc and management of traceability throughout the product lifecycle; Specification of product/sub-systems; conduct architecture trade studies to evaluate system concepts and establish preliminary designs; system behavioural modelling using UML; bid support and programme planning and customer and sub-contractor liaison.
This role requires technical breadth in order to resolve complex multi-discipline detailed issues and develop solutions, and a detailed understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle. Experience in the use of Requirements Management database toolset (e.g. DOORS) and the use of behavioural modelling tools (e.g. Rhapsody UML). Liaison and presentation experience with MoDAF or DoDAF is highly desirable
