Description A vacancy has arisen for a Subcontract Manager to join our Supply Chain Department, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. The purpose of this role is to project manage the subcontracting of major procurement projects; to source appropriate suppliers, negotiate, draft agree contracts and to manage their delivery in terms of cost, timeliness and compliance to specifications through to successful completion.
Key responsibilities: • Purchase materials and services in accordance with the agreed company policy and guidelines. • Work with engineering in compiling procurement specifications for specialised products or services. • Identify appropriate sources of supply to meet contract needs. • Purchase competitively all materials/parts and ensure they are available at the required time and quality. • Ensure all suitable contract conditions are flowed down to our suppliers. • Co-ordinate the provision of material cost estimates, material cost baselines and target post-contract savings including the identification of risk as part of the bid team utilising strategic supply agreements where appropriate to maximize contract profitability. • Review and re-cost material estimates during the design phase to highlight variances and take appropriate action. • Ensure the contract conditions are satisfied by suppliers as negotiated.
Personal Requirements: • CIPS, APM or equivalent professional qualification. • Higher Education HND or Degree – preferable in business or technical subject. • Relevant experience in major sub contract procurement . • Experience of procurement for bespoke systems from contract development through to customer acceptance. • Negotiating and contract drafting skills. • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and IT including an ERP system). • People management and team working experience. • Willing to travel within the UK and overseas at short notice.
