Our client is a leading provider of analytical solutions for particle characterisation and rheology applications. Their products help customers improve product quality, performance, increase productivity and yield. Employing over 400 people worldwide from their award-winning headquarters, they are continuing to expand and grow through investment in New Product Introduction.
The company currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Buyer to join their progressive team in Malvern.
The post holder will be responsible for the sourcing of machined components, predominantly for prototype demands, as well as the off shore souring of production items. You will be required to manage all aspects of the procurement cycle, including offshore sourcing with the supply of production machined components and sheet metal items.
In this role, you will liaise with designers and suppliers to satisfy product development requirements whilst providing manufacturing solutions to meet both time and cost constraints. You will work closely with the Materials Manager to monitor, reorganise and source suppliers, taking responsibility for the performance and resolution of supplier related issues including quality, delivery and payment. You will also be expected to represent the materials group at new product introduction meetings, making recommendations on machined, sheet metal and cast items.
The successful candidate will be educated to HNC or HND level in mechanical engineering and will have experience in supplier development. A background in manufacturing is essential, especially with regards to machining and sheet metal items, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings. Ideally you will possess the CIPS qualification and will have knowledge of SAP, however this is not essential. | | |
