West Thurrock, Essex

We are currently looking for an Operations Assistant to join this international shipping company, focusing on both project forwarding and marine port agency work within the Government sector, initially on a 12 month contract.

This is a great career opportunity for the right person, offering a varied, interesting and potentially progressive role. It will require the successful applicant to be willing to learn an unusual and interesting business.

Day to day duties will involve handling the co-ordination of ship visits globally, processing price requests and submitting quotations, co-ordinating logistics operations and communicating with ships at sea via e-mail to co-ordinate the appointment of agents for port visits.

Key competencies required for the role are being able to convey a courteous manner with customers at all times, being assertive and able to issue clear guidelines to suppliers, having a proactive approach, displaying highly competent organisational skills, have good all round communication skills along with the ability to listen, able to work under pressure and to timely details and have an innovative approach to processes and procedures.

Key Skills

HOURS: 9am – 5.30pm

SALARY: £18-20k (neg dep on exp)
